Refineries4Future at the expert forum on the development of renewable fuels at the BMDV

More than 130 experts from science, industry and politics came together in Berlin on 17 September 2024 at the invitation of the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport (BMDV) for the “Forum Development of Renewable Fuels” to strengthen Germany’s pioneering role in innovative production technologies for renewable fuels through knowledge exchange and networking. On this occasion, representatives of all projects funded by the Federal Ministry for Digital and Economic Affairs and Transport in the Renewable Fuels funding line met. The aim of all projects is to promote innovative production processes, expand production capacities and increase the supply of renewable fuels. In the long term, the aim is to ensure that renewable fuels can fulfil their key role in the transformation of mobility – especially where long distances are travelled or large loads are transported, such as in aviation or shipping. The Refineries4Future (REF4FU) and InnoFuels projects were coordinated and represented by KIT. While the Renewable Fuels from Green Refineries of the Future (REF4FU) project aims to develop, validate and evaluate sustainable refinery concepts that can be used to meet the future demand for renewable liquid fuels, the InnoFuels network platform supports the further development and ramp-up of renewable fuels by networking stakeholders from science, business and politics.
