WP 2.1: Fischer-Tropsch-based products (KIT – IMVT)

Under the leadership of KIT-IMVT, a simplified work-up process for FT-Crude is being developed and validated in order to produce paraffinic kerosene in accordance with ASTM D7566. The aim is to maximize the kerosene yield and the targeted production of aromatics and cycloalkanes to enable a 100% drop-in SAF. The integration of a modular FT plant in refineries and decentralized SAF production are being investigated.

Product batches of 20-25 liters of kerosene are provided for further tests. Finally, concepts for the scaling and integration of FT product conditioning in central refineries and for the decentralized production of 100% drop-in SAF will be developed. An additional module for the production of aromatics and cycloalkanes is to be integrated into the Energy Lab’s PtL plant.

Innovations
A central innovation is the development of a new reactor concept for the integration of FT synthesis and hydrocracking in a hybrid catalyst bed.
