The Institute of Industrial Production (IIP) has extensive experience in the technical, economic, and ecological evaluation of innovative technologies. It is characterized in particular by its interdisciplinary and international orientation, especially the combination of engineering and scientific approaches with business administration and computer science methods. This covers various techno-economic issues along the entire energy value chain.

Important competencies, preparatory work and infrastructure

The IIP has extensive experience in international research projects with techno-economic evaluations. In this context, Power-to-X (PtX) solutions for the future energy system and, in particular, the production of synthetic fuels have been the subject of recent research activities.

Expected progress through the project

Expansion of existing process chains for the production of synthetic fuels. System-analytical evaluation of refinery concepts (incl. biorefinery concepts). Overall concept assessment based on representative, validated technology (min. TRL 5) and tested products.
